What you’ll do
As a Senior IP Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the end to end delivery cycle of the IP Network for each involved market , starting from the technology planning into the Design (High level / Low level) and the delivery in field. You will design, engineer and deliver business critical IP Core information systems (HW & SW IP core routing and switching systems) to NSE internal customer, Vodafone Business and any other Vodafone function, ensuring network stability and enhanced customer experience.
You will perform advanced analysis, define optimal technical requirements, implement and integrate complex SW&HW systems, support development of new software functions and perform testing and acceptance of IP Core information systems for fixed & mobile customers. You will identify synergies, coordinate and contribute to multiple strategic projects related to above information systems, ensuring timely delivery to external clients (VF European markets).
You will also lead the delivery cycle of the above (LLD, Coordination of activities to bring the project into reality), will coordinate the Lifecycle Management of the platform and will observe and monitor resiliency, performance and capacity management of the IP Core Network.
• Evolve the architecture of IP Core information systems to support business transformation and market priorities
• Define and manage critical IP network optimization initiatives to support IP connectivity challenges raised by new projects (NFV, 5G, convergence, …)
• Define software/hardware requirements for advanced IP Core information systems build to deliver voice & data products to mobile and fixed clients coordinating design, testing and the enmtire deployment process for these.
• Capacity planning and dimensioning for IP Core systems taking into account Resiliency and Performance Management
• Country specific Low Level Design& delivery management for IP Core aligned with Strategy and Architecture high level principles
Who you are
• University degree in computer science, telecommunications or equivalent
• Industry recognized certifications at professional-expert level ( CCNP, CCDP, CCIE) are considered a plus
• Good awareness of wider technology aspects in telecommunications and ICT
• Inter-functional relationships between information systems
• Expert knowledge of IP network architecture and technologies (MPLS VPN, TE, QoS, IPv6, MC, NNIs, …), IP routing & switching information systems, network operating systems and Very good knowledge of dynamic routing protocols (BGP, IS-IS, OSPF)
• SW development background aimed to automate provisioning, performance monitoring & reporting and introduction of Software Defined Network technologies
• Excellent communication skills. Need to liaise with other functions of Vodafone, to drive the evolution of the IP networks in the markets of scope
• Ability to work within a multi-national, multi-cultural team
• Interfacing with clients (internal and external) to define service requirements and to adopt design accordingly. Able to understand customer complaints and pave the way to their resolution.
